What is Limit order?

An order with a price you will not cross. It waits on the book and makes liquidity.

A limit order names a price you will not cross and then waits. It makes liquidity rather than consuming it, usually earns the lower fee, and carries the one risk a market order does not: it might never fill. Every wall you see on the board is somebody's limit order, sitting there being either conviction or a bluff.
